truffula.us

It's a reference to the ecosystem described in Dr. Seuss' The Lorax.

In the story, the Truffula Trees support a variety of fauna, until they are razed by the greedy Onceler.

It's an allegory about capitalism's misappropriation and destruction of natural systems for profit, in general. But it's also specific to the coast redwood and douglas fir forests of the Pacific Northwest. The title character is a keystone species in the ecosystem, the Northern Spotted Owl. Other characters represent small mammals in the Owl's diet, and birds and fish that depend on the streams and forest.

It has been suggested the Onceler represents Charles Hurwitz or Charles Koch.
